March 24, 2006 - Shaw
Conference Centre, in Edmonton, Canada
Jelena Mrdjenovich of Edmonton, Canada, wasted little time in
stopping Donna Biggers of North Carolina. The fight
ended at 2:00 in the second round.
In the
Edmonton Sun they said that it was a
one-sided TKO beat-down.
One Canadian boxing fan
wrote to WBAN after the fight and said, “By no means do I want
to take anything away from Donna Biggers, it takes guts and a lot of
heart to get out there, but when you look at her opponents,
three-fourths of her fights were four-rounders!”
The question
WBAN has is will Team Mrdjenovich now look at fighting the
top women in her weight class. WBAN has
Mrdjenovich ranked #7,
not even CLOSE to the top. In fact she would probably
get a nosebleed just looking up at who is over her in the WBAN
rankings. Mrdjenovich will need to focus on these boxers to move up in
our rankings:
Chevelle Hallback
#1;
Melissa
Del Valle
#2;
Emiko
Raika
#3;
Belinda Laracuente
#4;
Valanna
McGee
#5;
Tracy Byrd #6.
Second question for Mrdjenovich is ----will she EVER
FIGHT out of the confines of CANADA?

Also junior welterweight Keri Scarr, made her pro debut
and won a four-round unanimous decision over Amy Johnson.
Final judges scores were 49-36, 40-36, and 40-36.

November 5, 2005 - at
the Lawrence Joel Coliseum at the Annex, in Winston Salem, North
Carolina, put on by Ring of Dreams Promotions with Promoter Mr.
Kerry Smith there were two WBE Title defenses. In the
Main Event of the night Carlette Ewell faced Ljeoma
Egubinine for the WBE Lt. Heavy and Supper Middle Weight Titles.
The catch weight was 170 lbs. Ewell and Equbinine looked to be in
the best condition for this bout, according to WBAN’s insider. In
round one, Ewell moved well as a boxer, and was impressive in how
she has improved as a “boxer.” Ewell known more as a brawler, the
latter style may have suited her more when fighting Equbinine,
sticking to more of her old style and making a war out of it. By
trying to box “the boxer” Equbinine----used her height and reach to
her advantage. In round one, Ewell went down (once or twice), and in
round two, it was reported that she went down twice. The ref, Bill
Clancy stopped the bout. The crowd was reported to have been
“stunned” as they thought the hometown favorite (Ewell) would win
this bout. Equbinine was a definite step up for Ewell, considering
some of Ewell's past opponents. In the second women’s bout,
Donna Biggers fought
Darnella Barnes, of Wilson, North
Carolina with the bout going the
distance. WBAN was told that this was an "all-action" bout. Biggers won by a unanimous decision. Barnes showed a lot of heart
and determination during the bout, but Biggers experience won this
night. The weight class was at 135 lbs, and was a four
rounder. WBAN was told that the women’s bouts were without
a doubt the best two fights of the night. Biggers has come a
long way. Her last fight was the talk of the event, saying it was
the "fight of the night." Biggers had a repeat performance on
this card.
October 15, 2005
