Fight fans in Atlanta
got more than their money's worth in the second Friday Night Fights at the Roxy card last night in Atlanta, Georgia. This nine-bout card was a
crowd-pleasing affair held at this popular Buckhead venue, which marked
the pro debut of top female amateur Janaya "Jai" Davis.
As an amateur, Davis, 158, won three national titles in 2002 while fellow debuter Mariem Punchenella Brakache, 155, a native of Morocco, had
competed in kickboxing events in Holland before immigrating to the United
States. Davis used her reach and jab to good effect, tattooing her
opponent's face, while Brakache kept up the pressure throughout this
highly competitive four-round middleweight match-up. The final decision
was 40-36 on all cards. Fight report
