December 18, 2004 - Bujtosi Sport & Leisure Center, in Nyíregyháza,
Hungary
Agnieszka Rylik of Poland successfully defended her
junior welterweight title against Iva Weston, 18, in a ten-round
title bout. Rylik won by a unanimous decision. Final judges
scores were 100-90 on all cards. JollyDee wrote, "In nearly a
full house in Bujtosi Sport & Leisure Center, Nyíregyháza, Hungary,
(attendance of cca. 2500) watched the two ladies' entries. After their
introductions and compulsory protocol the match started. Rylik
immediately came out aggressively with throwing some nice left-hook and
straight right combinations that stunned the opponent, who didn't find
any answers for Agnieszka's attacks. In the 2nd and 3rd rounds it was
clear for the defender, she still followed the usually power-box but at
this period Weston with stepping backward style neutralized Rylik's
punch. In the 4th round both boxers got a little bit tired, but Rylik
still won the round. From the start of the 5th round, Weston
really focused on hanging on to finish until the 10th round what is
finally she got it. (Weston was down in 6th and final round but the
referee did not count, because the referee meant it a slip.)
Through the entire bout, Rylik controlled the pace of the fight, with
Weston only having a few moments."
