On the undercard, Junior
welterweight Molly McConnell, now 4-0-0 (1KO), Portland, Oregon,
scored a four round majority decision win over Terry Blair, 5-8-1
(3KO), Louisville, Kentucky. McConnell won the first two rounds on all
three judge's cards because she was quicker and more accurate then Blair.
In the third, Blair settled down and used her jab to catch McConnell and
keep her a bit off balance. Blair won the third on two judge's cards. The
fourth round was very close. Blair and her corner knew she had to have a big
round, but McConnell once again returned to the quick jab and then moved out
of trouble. Blair maintained stiff pursuit, but she did not move her head
well enough to keep it from being a target for McConnell's jab. One judge
would give the round to Blair, and score the fight a draw. The other two
scored the fourth for McConnell, one having the fight 40-36, the other
39-37. ©Photos by Mike Blair. |
