Video Streaming: Flash From the Past - Behind the Scenes...By

2008) This year---WBAN is in the process of now archiving past footage and
photos from all the coverage that we have provided throughout the nearly 10
years of being on the net. In this video streaming that was “Behind the
Scenes” , it was an all-women’s boxing card that I covered in Austin, Texas.
The weigh-in was held on November 15, 2001, and on that day, while pre-fight
interviews and weigh-ins were in the process of being done by WBAN, other
news agencies and a television crew, we found ourselves in the midst of a
tornado. I among all others ended up in the basement, while we were told
that we were in the eye of the tornado. While waiting in the basement, the
electricity went out, and it was dark, other than the emergency lights that
ran off a generator. The video streaming is of the “Behind the Scenes” at
the weigh-in, and some of the footage I shot while being in the eye of the
tornado inside the basement. I also shot outside where there were flash
floods going right next to the hotel. The weigh-in there are glimpses of
Sumya “Island Girl” Anani, Fredia “The Cheetah” Gibbs, Ada Velez, Chevelle
Hallback, Mary Elizabeth Ortega, Gina Nicholas, Snodene Blakeney, Jessica
Mohs, and more....Footage by Sue TL Fox

November 16, 2001 - Austin, Texas
Ann Wolfe vs. Gina Nicholas - TKO3. Wolfe earned new
WIBA 154 lb. World title; Sumya Anani vs. Fredia Gibbs
- Maj. Draw -Neither fighter walked away with the 140-lb WIBA title,
final scoring 94-94, 94-94, 96-92; Valerie Mahfood vs
Trina Ortegon- Mahfood won by a unanimous decision. Mahfood won
the WIBA Super-middleweight title. Final scoring 98-92, 96-94,
96-94; Chevelle Hallback vs. Snodene Blakeney--
stopped in the second round after an accidental head butt. Result of
the fight was a technical draw, and neither boxer won the title this
night; Mary Ortega vs. Ada Velez - Velez by unanimous
decision. Final scoring - 96-93, 98-91, 98-91. Velez won the 122-lb
WIBA world title; Linda Tenberg vs. Jessica Mohs -
Tenberg by Unanimous decision, final scoring 40-36 all judges. |
