Letter
from Team Mrdjovenovich2 In the All-women's boxing card, "World Title Wave",
proved to be a very entertaining card. The event was telecast on Webcast, via Pay-Per-View, through
aringoftheirown.com.
The first fight of the
night featured Shelly Burton, 157.5, of Montana, vs.
Laura "Lady Ram"
Ramsey, 163.5, of Winter Haven, Florida. Burton was supposed to
fight Laetitia Robinson, but the Burton Team was notified just shortly
before boarding their aircraft, going to Edmonton, that Robinson dropped
off the card when she was not medically cleared, due to an injury to her
nose. They were told at that time that Burton would be
fighting Laura Ramsey. Ramsey taking the fight on a 72 hour
notice.
The Burton-Ramsey bout was set for 10 rounds and they were fighting for
the vacant WIBA Intercontinental Super Middleweight. The bout was
action-filled for the two, and both displayed toughness throughout the
fight. Burton won by a majority decision, with the judges scoring the
bout 97-93, 95-95, and 97-93. This was Ramsey's first loss as a pro.
The second fight of the night,
Chevelle “ Fists of Steel" Hallback, 129,
fought Belinda Laracuente, 129.5, for the WIBA Super Featherweight
title. There were no knockdowns during the bout. Final judges scores
were 98-92, 98-92, and 98-92. WBAN would like to see
Jelena Mrdjenovich
fight Chevelle Hallback for a world title, as this would definitely be
an exciting match for boxing fans to see. In the third fight of
the night it was “Bad News” for Lisa Brown, 120 3/4, when
Jeannine
"Heartless" Garside, 121 3/4, of Windsor, Canada, with only a 3-0
record, defeated her for the WIBA super-Bantamweight world title belt.
It was truly a battle of the southpaws. Garside surprised Brown with a
third round knockdown, where Brown took an eight-count. Garside, one of
the most exciting boxers to join the pro ranks is evidently following
the footsteps of her trainer, Margaret Sideroff. Sideroff won her first
world title in her fourth pro bout.in the main event,
Jelena Mrdjenovich, 128 3/4, of Edmonton,
Canada, fought Franchesca "The Chosen One" Alcanter, 129,
for the WBC/WIBF super featherweight title. Jelena effectively used her
jab and combinations, and 24 seconds of the sixth round, threw a left
hook to Alcanter's head. Alcanter fell to the canvas with the hard left,
and the fight was stopped by KO.
Rock and Sock Productions gets high marks for this very entertaining
card, and the webcast was very professionally done.
Rock & Sock Productions in association with KO Promotions and
Independent Jewelers put on this event.
There was two male non-title bouts on the undercard.

- La Carte Event Pavilion, Tampa Florida
StarFight Productions brought another night of exciting boxing to
the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. The main event
between the number one super featherweight in the world (WIBA and
IBA World Champion) Chevelle "Mo Baby" Hallback (24-4-1, 11 KOs, 1
ND), 135 lbs, and Melissa "Honey Girl" Del Valle
(29-5-1, 11 KOs, 1
ND), 137.5 lbs, ended in a no-contest. The bout came to a sudden end
at the start of the third round when an accidental headbutt
occurred. Hallback stepped in to throw a combination, Del Valle
stepped forward in what appeared to be an effort to clinch/hold
Hallback causing the forehead of Hallback and the mouth of Del Valle
to collide. Immediately after, blood could be seen gushing out of
the upper right lip of Del Valle. Referee Telis Assimenios stepped
in and called for time as the ringside doctor inspected Del Valle's
lip. Thereafter, he determined that there was no way for Del Valle
to continue and the match was thus ruled a no decision. Del Valle's
lip had a gash about an inch in length with the skin and tissue
frayed. Official time of stoppage was at the 0:11 mark of the third.
This was the first time in Hallback's career that she has fought in
her hometown of Tampa. Next up for Hallback will be on Rock & Sock
Promotions all female pay-per-view November 18 from Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada. Hallback is scheduled to defend her WIBA world
title against fellow Floridian Belinda Laracuente. Copyrighted story on BoxingInLasVegas.com

January 26, 2005 -
at the Ameristar Casino, in Kansas City, Missouri
Chevelle Hallback won by TKO in the
second round, but NOT without a fight by Kim
Colbert! In what was called a fierce battle between these two,
the fight had a lot of action. Colbert stunned Hallback in the second
round, and knocked her down to the canvas, with Hallback taking an eight
count! Well, the gloves were off 'so to speak' after that little
episode and Hallback went after Colbert with a "Fist of Steel". During that
time, Colbert landed a couple of bombs with a left hook, but then she began
to take some heavy hits by Hallback, and the ref stopped the fight.
The crowd booed at the early stoppage because Colbert was still returning
some fire. According to WBAN's insider, after the fight, Colbert took
a punch at Hallback, and the fight was on again outside the ring.
Security was called to stop the donnybrook. WBAN's insider said that Colbert
was "fearless" against her much more experienced opponent. In a second
women's bout, at the Ameristar Casino, in Kansas City, Missouri,
Jerri Sitzes won by a six round unanimous
decision over Lisa Pederson. Sitzes
dropped Pederson in the second round, but throughout the fight, it was very
competitive and entertaining. Scores, 60-52, 60-53, 60-52.

September 20, 2003 -
Savannah, Georgia
Well they did it to us again folks…Like a thief in the night, they snuck it
in and stuck it to boxing fans…..AGAIN! Just when we thought that the
promoter /matchmaker who utilizes the very talented IBA World Champion
Chevelle “Fists of Steel” Hallback on their cards would continue to use
viable opponents for Hallback-----they threw in a “stinker!”
According to news sources, last night in Savannah, Georgia, Hallback made a
VERY short night of fighting four-time loser, Michelle Ewing. Ewing has
been stopped or KO'd in all of her four fights, including her fight
last night with Hallback that ended early in the fight after being knocked
down three times. The two were not even in the same weight class, with Ewing
weighing in at 151, Hallback at 137. (Note: Ewing's record has been
confirmed on three different records sites that includes WBAN's records as a
winless boxer coming into the fight with a 0-4-0 record. If there are
unreported fights for Ewing, feel free to send in the information to WBAN.)
August 30,
2003- Savannah Civic Center, in Savannah, GA Chevelle "Fists of

faced Melissa "Honey Girl" Del Valle, 130. Hallback won
by a large margin of 99-89, 100-88, and 99-88. WBAN's
insider said that in the third round, Hallback through a right
hand that made Del Valle go to one knee to take a count.
In the fifth and ninth round, Del Valle lost two points for
holding. In the sixth round, both boxers headbutted each
other

- Jarrell’s Gym, in Savannah, Georgia
There were two women’s bouts on a card of five scheduled
matches. The first match featured seasoned veteran
Mitzi
Jeter. Jeter, 150.5, won a hard fought six-rounder over
Bonnie Mann, 151. The two had several clashes of the heads
throughout the fight. Mann told WBAN that although she did not
win the bout, that for her it was still a victory to go the
distance in her first six-round bout, against an experienced
boxer. Mann said, “I want to take on the best and have a
benchmark from which I can improve and fine tune my training to
become even better. So for others who are out there who may not
have the best records in the world....don't worry about it. Just
keep training and learn from every fight.” In the second
women’s match, Chevelle Hallback won a six-round
unanimous decision over Britt VanBuskirk. Hallback
displayed this night her technical skills and dominated the
fight. Britt was game and hung in there until the end.
March 29, 2003 -
Jarrell's Gym, in
Savannah, Georgia
Chevelle “Fists of Steel” Hallback, 145, moved
up in weight class to Junior Welterweight, and defeated former WIBC
welterweight champion Mitzi Jeter, 138, of
Georgia. According to
local news sources, Hallback got the best “slugging” in, and that when she
would tire, would effective use her jab to keep Jeter at bay. On all
judges scorecards, the final score was 59-55.
December 29, 2002
- Johnny Mercer Theater, in Savannah, Georgia
Chevelle Hallback won a 10-round unanimous decision over
Layla
McCarter in a non-titled 10 rounder. This was NOT for the IBA World
title defense for Hallback as reported on other Internet news sources that
have it listed as a "title" fight. Earlier this week, as
reported on WBAN, McCarter pulled out of the IBA World 10-round title
fight when she claimed a hand injury. The promoter was trying
frantically to find a competent replacement for McCarter to fight Hallback
on this night's card. Then McCarter did take the fight, but it was made a
non-title 10 rounder. Final scores for this bout was 98-91, 97-95,
100-90.
November 22,
2002 - Savannah, Georgia
(NOV 24) At the Savannah Civic Center, Chevelle Hallback, IBA World
Champion, has had another inferior, inept boxing match with now,
Willicia
Moorehead who fights out of Wisconsin. Hallback KO'd Moorehead in the
first round (big surprise? not...) And WBAN will comment again, as
it did with Hallback's last MISMATCH against Vanessa Pine…BIG
Disappointment with a boxer as talented as Hallback, who has now had two
mismatches in a row. Moorehead is now 2-10.
September 27, 2002 -
Savannah, Georgia
Another "stinker" of a match last night! At the Savannah
Civic Center, in Savannah, Georgia, with one of the best and
well-respected boxers on the scene today, Chevelle Hallback, fought
Vanessa Pine, 1-1-0, KO'ing her in the second round... another
disappointment in this sport lately.

July 8, 2001 - Texas Station, Las Vegas,
Nevada
Laura Serrano, 130, won a close majority decision against Chevelle
Hallback, 130, in a six-round junior lightweight bout. It was a
toe-to-toe fight from the first round to the last. There were no
knockdowns, and Serrano received a cut in the fourth round by an
accidental headbutt. Her head was checked by the doctor, and the fight
continued. Judges scoring, 57-57 58-56 59-55. Serrano improved her
record to 11-0-2. Hallback dropped to 5-3-0 (4KO). Another
women's bout was between Jessica Rakoczy,134, and Imelda Arias,
136.5. Rakoczy won the four-rounder by a unanimous decision with final
judging of 40-36. This was the 100th show on Fox Sports Net, and the
commentators said that it was the best female fight they have ever
seen.
MISMATCH WITH RIJKER: Hallback began
her boxing career in 1996 and then had her first pro fight six months
later. Her pro debut was in Miami in January of 1997 against Connie
Plosser. She defeated Plosser with a TKO in the first round. Infact,
the fight lasted 47 seconds. With that vast experience as a pro,
Hallback was offered a fight with the infamous Lucia
Rijker on March 22, 1997 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Hallback told WBAN that she was offered the fight with a short notice of a
few days, and was unaware who she was fighting until she saw an HBO
special on female boxing the night before she was due to fly to Texas for
her fight. Hallback said that she had been told that Rijker had only
three fights and that she was not very good. Hallback had been
deceived. Hallback said that she learned from this
experience and that she would never take a fight unless she was ready to
do so.
On 04/26/00, Doris Hackl
fought Chevelle
Hallback for the IFBA Jr. Lightweight title, and she defeated
Hallback by a Majority Decision in a 10-round decision. As Ryan
Wissow reported "An excellent fight, and a good clash of styles.
Hallback was the aggressor and clearly the much harder puncher, but the
taller southpaw Hacki was very precise with her combinations, although she
sometimes slapped with her punches. Hallback missed with some wild
punches, but she also managed to land several bombs and she had Hackl
clearly in trouble on a couple of occasions. But Hackl came on strong
later in the fight as Hallback began to slow down and lunge with some of
her punches. Hackl counter-punched pretty well. Hackl couldn't hurt
Hallback with a baseball bat, but she showed good stamina and fought a pretty smart fight.
