The Palace Indian Gaming Center, Lemoore, California
Lisa Lewis, of Fresno, defeated Bambi Bertoncello with a
unanimous decision in a four-rounder. Lewis improved her record to
2-4, and Bambi's fell to 3-3-0. Jesus Sanchez covered this fight and
said that Lisa controlled the fight from the outset scoring repeatedly with right and
left hooks. Neither fighter went down but Lisa was the aggressor and landed the more telling blows. One judge scored the fight 39-37 for Lewis,
while the other two scored it correctly at 40-36 for Lewis. In rounds three and four Bambi did what can be best described as a mule kick with her right leg that sure got the crowd's attention.

Bambi Bertoncello (8-3-0) won a five- round unanimous Decision.
against Canada'a Mary Kingsford (8-2-0). Bambi controlled the fight
in every round, but Kingsford was very tough and had good technical skills
and was a good kicker. Kirk Jensen, manager of Bambi said, " Bambi's
boxing experience paid off in this fight, she seemed to land the sharper
and harder blows." Bambi moves to 9-3-0, while Kingsford falls to
8-3-0. WBAN's Inside reporter said that it was the most crowd pleasing
fight of the night was had Great action...

Ann Wolfe, 153, of Waco, Texas fought Kelly
Whaley, 153, of Cedar City, Utah, in a six-rounder that
resulted in a fifth round TKO. Wolfe improved her record to 6-1 (4KO), and
Whaley's record fell to 2-6. Bambi Bertoncello of
Issaquah, Washington won a four-round bout against Linda Robinson of Waco,
Texas, with a unanimous decision. The judging was 40-36, 4036,
39-37. Bertoncello improved her record to 3-1, and Robinson's record
dropped to 4-2.
January 1999
This was Bambi's first Boxing fight. She trained for only three weeks in Boxing. She had only fought a s a Kickboxer up to this point. She had no head movement and at the time did not understand that boxing requires a much closer distant and different footwork. Big learning
experience!!
