Three women in ring make fight history
by David May -Sept. 11 1992
The Grand Rapids Press
(Excerpt - Full article on the Grand Rapids Press)
Though rare, female boxing isn't a new idea. But what will
happen October 3, 1992, when Jamie Whitcomb of Grand Rapids fights in
Chicago, is indeed unique. Whitcomb will face rival Chris Kruez
Christopher of Chicago, and the referee will be Gwen Adair of California.
Adair - a licensed California official who frequently referees men's
fights-will make the bout possibly the first ever to feature three women
in the ring. For her part, Whitcomb, 29, is trying to be something
of a pioneer. Though women have boxed, their version of the sport
hasn't become a phenomenon.
Other fight results of
Whitcomb:
1990/91 (unknown date) . Bristol
International Speedway, medical default.
She through her arm/ shoulder out and the ref stopped the fight cause she
couldn't hold her arm up. weight class 140-145
